Trump isn’t a mistake. And he isn’t ONLY the result of economic inequality and techno-pessimism either. While that would be convenient, the problem is more systemic.

The Center for Election System deals with this kind of stuff on a daily basis, their main focus is ensuring fair and honest elections.

And the system we have now, it kind of sucks. We’ve built a two-party world where it’s US against THEM, the core of which is baked into the very operating framework of our democracy. A winner-take-all presidency (and voting system) virtually ensures there are NEVER more than two possible parties. When a third emerges, the second and third place peeps compromise slightly and merge to overtake the top dogs.

In this way, everything is perpetuated.

And worse still, when you walk into the department store (or Amazon), and there are only two identical…
